Chapter XXVIII: The Legacy: The Dawn of the Fallen Angels

In the temple, their eyes were all transfixed to the wide monitor screen. Almost holding their breath! Vicariously, they were all enthralled of what they saw on the screen as if they were just watching an adventure-fantasy movie but not with Alan. He was no longer seated on the chair. He was floating in a meditative yoga position. Legs crossed. His hands rested on his thighs. His eyes closed and in full concentration. He was whispering, whispering…. Kalil noticed this. His eyes were torn watching between the monitor and Alan. Kalil had no intention of disrupting Alan’s meditative state. He knew it was something to do with Abigail.

Four of us were running and jumping over the obstacles that we passed on every road. Sometimes we have to run through the skinny alleys between the buildings to mislead the freaks but their radars were so sensitive that wherever we go, they kept on chasing us wildly as fast as they could and mind you, with their big hind legs, they could almost match our speed. They climbed over whatever obstacles that marred their way. They continued to produce hissing sounds. We need to drive them out of the city.

“Uggh, what a terrible sounds!” shouted Darwin.

“Oh yeah, almost destroying human eardrums,” Mikhail responded.

“What is your plan, Abby?” asked Stephen.

“We need to drive them out of Thessaly as fast as we can,” snapped Abby.

“And destroy these creatures in your imagination?” teased Mikhail.

“Hmmm, I bet more than that!” I answered curtly.

“Oh exciting!” answered back Mikhail.

“Haha!” I only laughed. “Don’t tease me Mikhail. You know imagination is only my stratagem or device. I always put my imagination into reality.”

“I am scared Abby.”

“Hush Mikhail!”

“Haha.” Mikhail just laughed.

We were running for like 20 minutes changing directions from time to time but helluva these freaks were really damn good chasing us. I decided to demolish them as soon as possible. I shouted to my siblings. “We go northwestern edge of Thessaly. We’ll bound to Meteora. There’s a high cliff over there.”

Meteora means suspended in the sky or in the heavens above.  The place was embellished with beautiful God’s hands carved rock pillars and old structures of monasteries. The six monasteries seated on the solid rock towers of 1800 feet were believed to be built on 11th or 12th century. These monasteries became a great tourist attraction. Millions came to visit these monasteries which were still preserved at this very moment.

We kept running still until I scouted a thousand feet cliff where no inhabitants live. “Let’s climbed that rocky cliff,” I shouted. We climbed the cliff with maximum speed. We stopped at the highest peak of the cliff. Below the cliff was a vast river heavily wooded with pine trees. The view looked so spectacular from above. The temperature was cooler. The winds were blowing gustily brought about by atmospheric pressure.  I saw the freaks climbing also. It was easier for the freaks to climb the cliff since part of the body was that of spider. As they were approaching us, their cobra head flicked their forked tongue out from their mouths and began to hiss again. Meaning to say, they were communicating to each other to kill us.

“Oh Jesus, look at them. They are like colony of ants only they are of giant sizes.  It is a cul de sac here. We better fly.”

We all flew upward, just a hundred feet from the cliff. When these freaks saw us flying, this made them insanely furious. They made again a roaring super metallic sounds. Their sounds reverberate back and forth in the atmosphere. It created uproar like a thunder bolting.  We were stunned. So far the loudest sounds I have heard.

All of a sudden, some of the freaks were  burned and charcoaled. Mikhail set them on fire. He was using his pyrokinetic powers or the ability to set any object and air particles to ignite. I heard more uproar…clang…clang..clang… They stumped their hind legs. The cliff began to shake. Some rock debris was falling.

I maneuvered to fly next to Mikhail. “Mikhail, leave this to me. No harm should be done. The neighboring inhabitants of Meteora would be panick-stricken if we are going to use our powers adversely. Besides, we might be hurting some humans who lived nearby. I am thinking of the best possible solution to eliminate this creepy thing.”

Mikhail smiled at me. “No problem. It is all yours, Abby.”

Chapter XXVII: The Legacy: The Dawn of the Fallen Angels.

The lieutenant did not say any word when I told him to stay. He pretended to be on deaf ears but anyway he stayed just right beside me. I was still carrying the kid, tucked at my right side.  She was a cute five year old kid with pony-tailed hair. Still crying and looking for her mom. “What is your name?” I asked. “Sarah.” “What a lovely name! It means princess or a woman with high rank.” I told her.  “ Don't worry I am going to look for your mom. Okay?” I assured the kid. She nodded sheepishly.

The monsters made a hissing sounds. The sounds were getting louder and louder. They  actually were resisting me. I sensed that there seemed to be someone who was controlling these damn freaks. The noises they were creating were like mechanical robots…the sounds  made were particularly like metals…clattering; clanking and dumping.“Ugghh that's terrible,” reacted the kid and covered her ears with her two tiny hands.  “Yeah,” the lieutenant seconded the motion.

The super loud noise continued...clang...clang..clang.. The surroundings were filled with  annoying noises echoing in my ears. The kid screamed to her lungs and so with the people inside the buildings but not the lieutenant, surprisingly. He just wiggled his ears. I heard the people too inside the building screamed. Their hysteric screams clashed with the hissing sounds. I got alarmed. The sounds were getting entirely unbearable. My adrenalin pumped again. My violet eyes were turning into blazing red. The hairs in my skin rose. All of a sudden I heard an explosion. The smokes were going upward meeting the sky. Two Black Hawks helicopters were now firing desperately rocket missiles to squash away the freaks hanging on the walls of the buildings.  The reckless pilots made me extremely angry that I felt like making the helicopters crashed to the ground.  I was more concerned of the safety of people inside the buildings.

"BOOM" I heard another set of explosion. "Oh shoot, they never stop firing" I snapped.  I saw the Black Hawks  gracefully climbing and swooping the sky then diving downward to its  target and fire again. The rocket missiles exploded again. "BOOM, BOOM."  It did hit the target and some of the freaks dropped down dead. What was horrific was that few of the buildings were ravaged and rumbled.  The people inside rushed out of the building. Immediately, I handed the kid to the lieutenant. I looked straight into his eyes and said, “Lieutenant, take care of Sarah. And by the way lieutenant, there is no need for you to disguise yourself as a hanging belly and a balding lieutenant.”  He just smiled. “Jesus, how do you know Abigail?” “Because you don’t cover your ears, Lieutenant and from there I could see the difference.”

I walloped upward to the sky with a maximum speed.  I was now levitated in the air. Hundreds of feet high! When one pilot saw me floating in the sky, his mouth opened and gaping for breath. He radioed his co-pilot. "Did you see what I see?" he asked his comrade.  "Yeah, a young lady flying." "No she is an alien. Maybe she is the commander of those freaking bastard creatures." The Black Hawks circled me and started to push the trigger of the machine guns..rat tat tat tat.  "Opps, that was closed." I fly upward to the sky with a maximum speed. The Black Hawks followed me - climbing to greater heights. I don't want to hurt the pilots. As quickly, I made myself disappear then made a quick turned. The Black Hawks stopped. Suspended in the air for few minutes and wondering where I went. Not seeing me, the pilots maneuvered the Black Hawks to dive down aiming back to their target. This time, I met them again.  "Hold your fire," I shouted. My voice echoing . Using mental telepathy, I relayed the message to …”Stop firing, you are hurting and killing innocent people. Stop immediately; go back to your base. I have no intention of harming you. I have nothing to do with these creatures." They were in trance. I hypnotized their minds. The helicopters changed direction and went back to their base.

I pivoted back to the ground in full speed. The freaks were no longer frozen. They managed to resist my power. Their bodies incubate inherently and secreted a warm temperate which melted the ice wrapped in their bodies. This time, they were climbing down the walls of the buildings. They were still making loud clanking noise. I heard Sarah screamed again…and the people.  “Lieutenant, the ear drums of that girl would explode. Bring her somewhere where she could not hear this damn noise.” "Barry here Abigail."  In split seconds, the lieutenant and the girl were gone. I murmured, “There you go Barry.”  Using electromagnetic waves of frequency, I instructed groups of people who went out of the building to return inside. "Go back to the buildings and made a cover. The monsters are loose free." They all ran inside the buildings hysterically.

The tarantula-cobra looking freaks were in rage when I froze them. Their eyes were bloody red. Their fangs were sharp. Their tongues long. Their hind legs were sturdy and hairy. Hundreds of them were approaching me when they saw me standing tall in the middle of the road. Ready to crush my body and bones to pieces!  I shouted at them, “You want to play games with me. Well fellas, I love games.” They made more noises. “Oh gee, can you stop making ugly noise. Just catch me if you can.” With my hypersonic speed, I ran. The bloodhounds were running after me as fast as they can. I was leading them out of Thessaly. “Oh this is fun,” I said to myself.

“Can we join?” asked Mikhail. Mikhail was now running side by side with me. “Oh sure you can,” I answered.

“Hey Abby, I think I love running too. Been a long time I have not stretch my legs.” I saw Darwin running also from a near distance.

“Abby, I am lazy running. I would rather fly.”

“Dude, don’t be lazy. I need you to run like hell with us. We need to bring these freaks out of Thessaly.” Stephen laughed on top of my head. “Okay sissy.” So he joined us.

We all kept running by leaps and bounds. We heard our whooshing sounds against the gale winds produced by our speed. I felt we were like avatar in a video games.

Chapter XXVI: The Legacy: The Dawn of the Fallen Angels

Meanwhile, Alan was carried by a thick cumulus looking fog back to the temple. He walked elegantly straight to the library located on the ground floor. Various kinds of books were line-up and arranged neatly in the shelves. Those books were relics of the past. Most of the books pertained to the creation, war in heaven and the fallen angels. These books were kept highly confidential. No man yet had ever written the multi-complex truth about the purpose of creation and the fall of angels. Alan also happened to pass by a golden book secured in a glass box. He glanced at it for a moment. “That book is for Abigail to read,” he said in a whisper. She would read it when the right time comes. The book was well secured in a time complex lock.

An archaic painting of the “Last Supper” was hanging on the wall just adjacent to the piles of books in the shelves. Behind the painting was a push-button switch.  Alan moved the painting to the right and pressed the switch. And lo, the wall opened up side-wise  Confronting him was a steel door with a scanner device attached to it.  After his identity was cleared, he proceeded to the basement hurriedly.  Of course, he could pass through the wall easily without being scanned. All of them had the ability to do that but he had to adhere to protocols.  By far, it was not an ordinary basement. The basement was made of scientifically sophisticated gadgets and equipment. Plus an added factor, it had sumptuous furnishing and appeared stellar.  He saw Zar, Khail, Haniel, John and his father, Kalil seated. Eyes glued at the wide screen monitor watching Abigail. Alan took a chair and joined them. John was delighted to see Alan. He moved closer to Alan and ruffled his hairs. “Excellent job, Alan.”  Alan smiled. His eyes glowing and uttered, “She is extremely astute! Extraordinary crafty!” John answered, “She is. Absolutely, she is.” Alan just smiled to John. He never said any words. His eyes fixed at the monitor.

I heard the sounds of sporadic gun shots from the automatic rifles…rat tat tat tat..rat tat tat tat. The fires of guns made the people screamed more loudly. Men, women and children were hysterical. The sounds of the automatic rifles made them more panicked. The crowds were totally in pandemonium. The Lieutenant who headed the police forces kept on commanding fire. The policemen men were aiming at the tarantula-cobra looking monster to stop them from climbing the walls of the buildings. Some eventually succeeded evading the gun fires. Their climbs were fast since these creatures were spiders. Some were hit by a bullet and fell dead on the ground. Some wanted to break the glass windows to enter the building where people were hiding for safety. I could hear now chopper plane flying the sky equipped with machine guns and rockets. Thessaly was now under siege. I told myself, “I must stop this shedding of bloods. I must do something now.”

A stern ominous warning gulped into my brain. My only concerned now was to save these people either from these monsters or from the gun fires. My adrenalin pushed me to move instantly. Without any hesitation, I jumped from the rooftop of the Bethany Hotel. It was my first time to jump from a 250 feet height. I landed smoothly on the ground. I went straight to the commanding officer of the police forces. He was at his 50, 6 feet tall, poker face, bald and Jesus, what a dal belly. This police lieutenant doesn't seem to exercise at all. I could smell beer from his mouth although he just brushed his teeth.

I approached him, “Sir, stop the fire. People may hit with stray bullets.”

“Who are you to order that to me?” He snapped at me arrogantly. His eyes so insidious! He studied me from head to feet. Despite of his recalcitrance, I did not remove my stare at him. He avoided my stare.

Again, I said, “Stop the fire, Sir. You may hit people with the stray bullets. That will make the scenario more badly. Let me handle this.”

With disbelief and mocking voice, he cut me off. “Who are you? A superwoman to handle this situation?  These monsters just sprang here and it seems like this place is cursed. Now tell me, if we are not going to shoot these monsters, what can you do woman?” While this lieutenant was mocking me, castigating me, I could still hear the gun fires and loud screams of people. This pissed me off. Then I heard the boy crying, “Mommy, where are you? “Mommy, help me.”

In split seconds I was gone. The lieutenant scratched his head in disbelief. “Where did she go?” In just a seconds, I came back to him carrying the boy with me. I told him, “He was trapped in a car wrapped with tarantula’s cobwebs.” Now lieutenant, tell your men to stop firing or I make you and your men froze like an ice. Don't force me to do something odd but if you don't listen to me, I am force to turn you and your men into a human ice."   This time, he knew I mean business. He radioed his troops of policemen to cease firing.

“Thank you, lieutenant for your cooperation.” I curtly said.

I transmitted a message to the minds of the people who were still running for safety by using electromagnetic wavelength of frequency. “All of you get inside the building and hide. Do not come out not until I instructed you.” I made the tarantulas froze so that they cannot move for the meantime. I could feel that they are resisting me. I again transmitted a message. “Move faster, go inside the building.” Young and old rushed inside the building. A remorse of fear can be seen through their eyes.

The lieutenant was stunned of what I did. His thought was consumed of the extraordinary phenomena that happened before his eyes. “Lieutenant, tell your men to go inside the building.” He followed my instruction like a robot. He was about to leave and to make a cover in the building too…but I said to him…”stay right with me, lieutenant. You can see more.”

Chapter XXV: The Legacy: The Dawn of the Fallen Angels

It was not an apocalyptic precognition that I saw in his glaring eyes that made me feel cold as ice. It was not a future battle to take place between the good and the evil forces that we have been waiting to come. That we have been preparing for. I knew somewhere in the bottomless pit the evil forces were gathering forces and ready to strike anytime. They were multiplying in multitudes while God-fearing people were getting few.  Ultimately, it had something to do between the two of us. A magnetic field of attraction between a man and a woman.  Alan would be part of me and I would be part of him. We would be coexistence! We would be working juxtaposed in the coming battle. I found it premature to unveil what I saw and premature to discuss with him.  We were just 12 years but we were physically and mentally equipped with gears of maturity, wisdom and extraordinary powers.  Those qualities made us special or precisely unique from other human species. In the future we would propagate another breed of humans out of our genes. I don’t like to worry about the future. Let the future worry for itself. Everything would be well taken there.

But….Alan was so persistent for me to explain what I saw. “What is it Abigail that you see? Can you tell me.?  He was shouting behind me as I walked away from him. There was a concern on the tone of his voice. I never answered him at all. I bit my lips and as far as possible tried to zippered my mouth. I still continue to walk away from him. A good riddance I bet or maybe a good riddance to avoid his charm. Oh Jesus, I felt attracted to him. Any woman would be charmed by his dazzling looks. I don’t like to succumb to attraction at this moment. My dad warned me about the rule. I continued walking away from him making my strides fast this time. He kept on following me, making his strides faster. I could hear his footsteps caused by the sounds of his rubber shoes. His steps almost matched mine. I made sure that he could not take hold of me. I decided to vanish from his sight. Before I maneuvered to do it, he was able to grip firmly my shoulders behind me. We halted for a moment. We were suspending in motion. I turned back at him meeting his gaze this time. I studied his gaze without blinking. I have noticed that his eyes had discerning shades of violet, blue, yellow and green. His visibility had a shorter spectrum of wavelength yet domineering. Defining the shades of both our eyes, mine had a superior wavelength which proved that my powers were more supreme compared to his powers.

“What did you see in my eyes? Is it apocalypse? Tell me please.” Again, Alan insisted for me to speak.

Before I could utter any words, I heard loud screams and wailing of people on the streets. Their screams connoted fears as though they were closer to their graves. My auditory activity was sharper than the samurai blade. When they screamed, the hairs in my skin rose. I had the capability of hearing sounds even thousands miles away. With the aid of my telescopic eyes, I saw them running in different directions finding a place to hide and to be safe. They were scared to death running away from these bizarre creatures - that similarly looked like a black hairy tarantula with huge body and hind legs but their heads were of a cobra snake with large fangs protruding from their mouths. They numbered to hundreds. Their sizes  were huge as car.  These creatures were hungry predators scouting for prey. Ready to kill and suck human bloods. The crowds were panicky. The police and military enforcers were all in their full battle combat gears each one with holding an automatic rifle. Their cars were curbed on the roads. Behind them, were military tanks for back-up. They were ready to pull the trigger and ready to fire.

“Where did these thirsty bloodsuckers came from?” I asked.

“I have no idea. I have never seen peculiar creatures as that! We need to help these people before it will turn this place to one hell of bloodshed.”

While Alan was talking, I saw a dark thick fog behind him. Before I could warned him, he was swallowed by the fog. I shouted, “Alan, Alan, where are you? I shouted several times but darn all I could hear was the echo of my shouts all coming back to me. My own sounds pierced my ears. Then I heard a sound of a clock …tick…tock…tick…tock… and the repeated wailing echoing in my ears. Tick…tick…tock…tick..tock… My brain got torpid. I could not think straight when Alan disappeared with the fog. A part of me was missing.  I was like this for few seconds. I felt dizzy and little stars twinkling in my yes. Then I heard a voice of authority. “Abby, you gotta move now! The lives of those people are in danger.” Like a snapped of the fingers, my senses came back to life when I heard dad's voice.

“Dad, what about Alan? He was swallowed by a fog.”

“Alan is Kalil’s son. You should remember that. He was setting up bait for you in a friendly term. If you fall into his trap, if you fail this mission, you will go back to Japan. Just recall what we agreed upon. Besides, Alan can take care of his self. Why worry?”

The last statement of dad “Alan can take care of his self. Why worry?”  made me smile. Dad was giving me a hint.
