In the temple, their eyes were all transfixed to the wide monitor
screen. Almost holding their breath! Vicariously, they were all enthralled of
what they saw on the screen as if they were just watching an adventure-fantasy
movie but not with Alan. He was no longer seated on the chair. He was floating
in a meditative yoga position. Legs crossed. His hands rested on his thighs.
His eyes closed and in full concentration. He was whispering, whispering…. Kalil
noticed this. His eyes were torn watching between the monitor and Alan. Kalil had
no intention of disrupting Alan’s meditative state. He knew it was something to
do with Abigail.
Four of us were running and jumping over the obstacles that we
passed on every road. Sometimes we have to run through the skinny alleys
between the buildings to mislead the freaks but their radars were so sensitive
that wherever we go, they kept on chasing us wildly as fast as they could and
mind you, with their big hind legs, they could almost match our speed. They
climbed over whatever obstacles that marred their way. They continued to
produce hissing sounds. We need to drive them out of the city.
“Uggh, what a terrible sounds!” shouted Darwin.
“Oh yeah, almost destroying human eardrums,” Mikhail responded.
“What is your plan, Abby?” asked Stephen.
“We need to drive them out of Thessaly as fast as we can,” snapped
Abby.
“And destroy these creatures in your imagination?” teased Mikhail.
“Hmmm, I bet more than that!” I answered curtly.
“Oh exciting!” answered back Mikhail.
“Haha!” I only laughed. “Don’t tease me Mikhail. You know
imagination is only my stratagem or device. I always put my imagination into
reality.”
“I am scared Abby.”
“Hush Mikhail!”
“Haha.” Mikhail just laughed.
We were running for like 20 minutes changing directions from time
to time but helluva these freaks were really damn good chasing us. I decided to
demolish them as soon as possible. I shouted to my siblings. “We go
northwestern edge of Thessaly. We’ll bound to Meteora. There’s a high cliff
over there.”
Meteora means suspended in
the sky or in the heavens above. The place was embellished with beautiful God’s
hands carved rock pillars and old structures of monasteries. The six monasteries
seated on the solid rock towers of 1800 feet were believed to be built on 11th
or 12th century. These monasteries became a great tourist attraction.
Millions came to visit these monasteries which were still preserved at this
very moment.
We kept running still until I scouted a thousand feet cliff where no inhabitants live. “Let’s climbed that rocky cliff,” I shouted.
We climbed the cliff with maximum speed. We stopped at the highest peak of the
cliff. Below the cliff was a vast river heavily wooded with pine trees. The view
looked so spectacular from above. The temperature was cooler. The winds were
blowing gustily brought about by atmospheric pressure. I saw the freaks climbing also. It was easier for the freaks to climb the
cliff since part of the body was that of spider. As they were approaching us, their
cobra head flicked their forked tongue out from their mouths and began to hiss
again. Meaning to say, they were communicating to each other to kill us.
“Oh Jesus, look at them. They are like colony of ants only they
are of giant sizes. It is a cul de sac
here. We better fly.”
We all flew upward, just a hundred feet from the cliff. When these
freaks saw us flying, this made them insanely furious. They made again a
roaring super metallic sounds. Their sounds reverberate back and forth in the
atmosphere. It created uproar like a thunder bolting. We were stunned. So far the loudest sounds I
have heard.
All of a sudden, some of the freaks were burned and charcoaled.
Mikhail set them on fire. He was using his pyrokinetic powers or the ability to
set any object and air particles to ignite. I heard more uproar…clang…clang..clang… They stumped their
hind legs. The cliff began to shake. Some rock debris was falling.
I maneuvered to fly next to Mikhail. “Mikhail, leave this to me.
No harm should be done. The neighboring inhabitants of Meteora would be
panick-stricken if we are going to use our powers adversely. Besides, we might
be hurting some humans who lived nearby. I am thinking of the best possible solution
to eliminate this creepy thing.”
Mikhail smiled at me. “No problem. It is all yours, Abby.”
