Chapter XXV: The Legacy: The Dawn of the Fallen Angels

It was not an apocalyptic precognition that I saw in his glaring eyes that made me feel cold as ice. It was not a future battle to take place between the good and the evil forces that we have been waiting to come. That we have been preparing for. I knew somewhere in the bottomless pit the evil forces were gathering forces and ready to strike anytime. They were multiplying in multitudes while God-fearing people were getting few.  Ultimately, it had something to do between the two of us. A magnetic field of attraction between a man and a woman.  Alan would be part of me and I would be part of him. We would be coexistence! We would be working juxtaposed in the coming battle. I found it premature to unveil what I saw and premature to discuss with him.  We were just 12 years but we were physically and mentally equipped with gears of maturity, wisdom and extraordinary powers.  Those qualities made us special or precisely unique from other human species. In the future we would propagate another breed of humans out of our genes. I don’t like to worry about the future. Let the future worry for itself. Everything would be well taken there.

But….Alan was so persistent for me to explain what I saw. “What is it Abigail that you see? Can you tell me.?  He was shouting behind me as I walked away from him. There was a concern on the tone of his voice. I never answered him at all. I bit my lips and as far as possible tried to zippered my mouth. I still continue to walk away from him. A good riddance I bet or maybe a good riddance to avoid his charm. Oh Jesus, I felt attracted to him. Any woman would be charmed by his dazzling looks. I don’t like to succumb to attraction at this moment. My dad warned me about the rule. I continued walking away from him making my strides fast this time. He kept on following me, making his strides faster. I could hear his footsteps caused by the sounds of his rubber shoes. His steps almost matched mine. I made sure that he could not take hold of me. I decided to vanish from his sight. Before I maneuvered to do it, he was able to grip firmly my shoulders behind me. We halted for a moment. We were suspending in motion. I turned back at him meeting his gaze this time. I studied his gaze without blinking. I have noticed that his eyes had discerning shades of violet, blue, yellow and green. His visibility had a shorter spectrum of wavelength yet domineering. Defining the shades of both our eyes, mine had a superior wavelength which proved that my powers were more supreme compared to his powers.

“What did you see in my eyes? Is it apocalypse? Tell me please.” Again, Alan insisted for me to speak.

Before I could utter any words, I heard loud screams and wailing of people on the streets. Their screams connoted fears as though they were closer to their graves. My auditory activity was sharper than the samurai blade. When they screamed, the hairs in my skin rose. I had the capability of hearing sounds even thousands miles away. With the aid of my telescopic eyes, I saw them running in different directions finding a place to hide and to be safe. They were scared to death running away from these bizarre creatures - that similarly looked like a black hairy tarantula with huge body and hind legs but their heads were of a cobra snake with large fangs protruding from their mouths. They numbered to hundreds. Their sizes  were huge as car.  These creatures were hungry predators scouting for prey. Ready to kill and suck human bloods. The crowds were panicky. The police and military enforcers were all in their full battle combat gears each one with holding an automatic rifle. Their cars were curbed on the roads. Behind them, were military tanks for back-up. They were ready to pull the trigger and ready to fire.

“Where did these thirsty bloodsuckers came from?” I asked.

“I have no idea. I have never seen peculiar creatures as that! We need to help these people before it will turn this place to one hell of bloodshed.”

While Alan was talking, I saw a dark thick fog behind him. Before I could warned him, he was swallowed by the fog. I shouted, “Alan, Alan, where are you? I shouted several times but darn all I could hear was the echo of my shouts all coming back to me. My own sounds pierced my ears. Then I heard a sound of a clock …tick…tock…tick…tock… and the repeated wailing echoing in my ears. Tick…tick…tock…tick..tock… My brain got torpid. I could not think straight when Alan disappeared with the fog. A part of me was missing.  I was like this for few seconds. I felt dizzy and little stars twinkling in my yes. Then I heard a voice of authority. “Abby, you gotta move now! The lives of those people are in danger.” Like a snapped of the fingers, my senses came back to life when I heard dad's voice.

“Dad, what about Alan? He was swallowed by a fog.”

“Alan is Kalil’s son. You should remember that. He was setting up bait for you in a friendly term. If you fall into his trap, if you fail this mission, you will go back to Japan. Just recall what we agreed upon. Besides, Alan can take care of his self. Why worry?”

The last statement of dad “Alan can take care of his self. Why worry?”  made me smile. Dad was giving me a hint.
